Writing articles is good promotion

by Terry Dunn on September 11, 2009

Are you writing articles to promote your website? If not, you should be. Writing useful and helpful articles for your visitors and readers is a great way to promote your website. Most people surf the Internet looking for information; advice, answers, reviews and news, are just some of different types of information we want to discover. And ezinearticles is the best, most popular site for submitting articles. And here is a neat trick using the power of RSS (Really Simple Syndication) to make displaying a list of your recently published articles on your website or blog easy.

So, where do you look for topics and inspiration, before you write all those articles. I like to read, listen to and learn from other experts, like Seth Godin. He has recently compiled a list of books he thinks is worth reading. As an expert marketer, I’m interested in his opinion. Besides, I think there are some good choices on his list.

Of course, not everyone likes reading as much as I do. Video and audio are very popular these days on the Internet. So, it’s no surprise webinars are very popular too. Webinars are seminars on the web. Proimpact7 runs live webinars and next Tuesday they are holding a webinar on sales tools, social media and subscriptions. As well as learning new ways to promote your business, it could give you ideas.

What if you can’t write? What if good article ideas and topics always seem to occur to other people and not you? Troy White thinks you can get past the blank computer screen with his lazy way to write an article. I reckon there are more than enough ideas here to get you started. And getting started is the key.

But when you have a few articles written and submitted, you need to do it regularly. Once a week or even once a month. Look at some of these authors on ezinearticles. Lance Winslow has published 18,000 articles! The amazing thing about writing and publishing even a handful of articles is the way they get spread around the Internet, creating links and traffic back to your website, which increases over time without you doing anything more.

It’s a ‘do it once and watch it grow’ way of promoting.
