We all want to know where the internet is going. What are the emerging trends and where are all the eyeballs or money going to on the internet? Easy question but hard to get an accurate answer. The internet is so big and there is so much going on, does anyone have sight of the bigger picture? I think successful internet entrepreneurs do. This is because they are completely immersed in the industry and they connect with other successful people. This gives them an edge.
And who better to listen to on the next internet trends than Mashable‘s Pete Cashmore. Pete is the founder of Mashable, which if you didn’t already know, is one of the top 1000 sites in the world according to website ranking experts Alexa. In today’s video Pete talks to THR TV at the SXSW exhibition (South by South West), recorded a few days ago.
We all know how big twitter and facebook have become and through these sites people are more connected. Even corporations are studying twitter and facebook to see how they can build their brands. But Pete thinks real-time, mobile and location are the next trends. I admit I don’t understand what he means by location, but most people cannot fail to notice the other two gaining ground.
Real-time is exemplified by twitter. we’ve all heard the story of how twitter published the breaking news of an airliner landing in New York’s Hudson river, before any one else did. And for anyone who tweets, we know twitter is truly real-time. And of course mobile is everywhere. Mobile technologies, products and tools are growing in leaps and bounds. There are some really clever mobile devices on sale to keep everyone connected from just about anywhere.
