How to be lucky

Today, Johnny B Truant is a successful blogger and web designer with a six figure income, but a little over a year ago his business or brand name did not exist. In a recent blog post he talked about how to make your own luck.

Because he’s become known in a relatively short time, everybody assumed he was lucky. His first big break was writing for ittyBiz, a popular marketing and business blog and people said, ‘that was a lucky break’. Does luck create success?

We can all be lucky. It’s amazing how serendipity can lead to a chance meeting, a terrific job offer or a million dollar client. And most people assume luck is behind any seemingly quick success. But is success ever quick? When anyone appears to get quick success, you can be sure you don’t have the full picture. It’s like an iceberg; you only see the part that stick out of the water. Most people don’t see all the hard work before you get lucky.

As Johnny says, ‘connections and opportunities open doors, but it’s up to you to find the doors, then walk confidently through them’. I absolutely agree. You create what happens to you in life. Lady luck comes to those who work at their goals by giving them a helping hand. So, how can you be lucky? Johnny wants you to buy his course called question the rules. He’s unashamedly plugging it. And why not – he busy making some more luck.

I think the business of blogging, web design or just about any other business is the same when it comes to promoting it and making it successful. You decide on a strategy. Johnny’s strategy was to write for prominent bloggers to get known. Then you create clear goals, schedule time and single-mindedly work the schedule until lady luck gives you a leg up.

If you decide to promote your business using social networking. Study successful networkers. Decide on a strategy that works for you. Create some goals. Build a regular schedule to put the strategy into practice. Then work that schedule for as long as it takes, which is often longer than you think it will take.

Be focussed. Work hard. And you will be lucky. Guaranteed.
