Now you’ve chosen the best autoresponder for your needs, and if you haven’t see my earlier post, compare autoresponders, just how are you going to use this versatile tool to your advantage?
Email autoresponders are great for keeping in touch with existing customers and selling more products to them. A regular newsletter, support updates or product upgrades are all opportunities to develop a better relationship.
If you have information of value your customers or prospects might want, you could create a short course and email it to them every day for 7 days. Use a pop-up opt-in box (or better still, a hover box, as it doesn’t get blocked by browsers) or prominently display an opt-in on every page.
You could also write a short report (call it a special report) or white paper and email it to your visitor as an attachment after they opt-in to your email list. If you don’t want to send it as an attachment, email them a link to a download page. Many webmasters promote affiliate products to their email lists. And you can also embed hidden affiliate code in your links too.
A really popular way to stay in contact is to compile a daily tips feature. You could write 3 to 6 months worth of tips in one sitting and upload them to your autoresponder. Display opt-in boxes and each new sign-up will receive the whole series, day by day. Then add your product promotions to the email series. Webmasters report terrific results with this tactic.
In fact there are so many uses I can’t list them all here. Encourage return visits to your blog, conduct customer surveys and find out what they want, or you can even ‘kickstart’ your list by buying one from a list broker. But make sure the broker does not compile his list by ’spamming’ people.

A good autoresponder will give you all the tools you need to manage and track the people on your list. It takes time and patience to build a responsive email list, but it is truly worth the effort.
