As as a Webmaster and website owner, do you do your own design work? I know I don’t, and unless you have design talent, I’m guessing you don’t either. That means you need to outsource the work to a designer. And every time you need to get some design work done, unless you have a regular designer, you have to find one.
Have you thought of holding a design contest? 99 designs runs design contests where you can tap into a community or more than 52,000 designers. Phew! That’s quite a few designers. And you can get any kind of design done from websites, to logos to business cards. You write down what you want, the price you want to pay and designers compete for your business. Once you’ve submitted your design brief, the designs roll in, and you pick the winner. I think it’s a great idea.
And in today’s video Sue and Steve give you some tips on how to run a design contest at 99 designs. A regular contest lasts a week but a fast-track contest can give you a 3 day turnaround. Sue and Steve recommend staying with the contest (so a shorter time-frame may be better) by visiting several times a day. And as designers enter the contest, give them feedback. Designers want to please you and the more feedback you give, the more you define your brief and the closer the results will be to what you want. They also recommend rating all the designs too. Be proactive, and you will get a better design. Makes sense to me.
The next design work I need done, I’ll be using a design contest.
