Networking for business

I’m sure you will not have missed the explosion in social networking and the proliferation of social websites. At least, the highest profile sites like facebook or linked in. But facebook is full of people socialising, making friends and talking about their daily lives. If you are in business, can you use these sites to network with other business people? Indeed, are there any social networks that specialise in networking for business people?

The answer is yes. You can use facebook for business networking, but better still, there are social networks for business. Ecademy is a great example. It’s full of business people networking with each other. They have members in 180 different countries providing thousands of like-minded business people to network with.

Ecademy is subscription based, so it will cost you between £5 and £40 a month, depending on your membership type. So, why should you pay when most networks are free? Well, over 100,000 people think it’s worth paying. In today’s video Penny Power, founder of ecademy, talks about the benefits of joining. The video features a live event in London with 250 attendees.

As Penny says, many people understand the value of networking on the internet but don’t know what to do. It’s about sharing your knowledge. Giving to the community first, then you will receive in spades. Giving isn’t difficult. Everyone has specialist knowledge of some description that others can benefit from.

Once you’ve joined you start by creating a profile. Then you can write a regular blog or join a group on a particular topic. You can advertise in the marketplace or even attend one of the many offline meetings between members held worldwide. Even if you only create a profile, google indexes ecademy every 60 minutes so members get good search engine rankings.

Start networking your business and making connections.
