In today’s video Aaron Wall from SEO book is giving us a few tips on the different kinds of links that build good rankings with google. For anyone who doesn’t know Aaron, he runs the very successful SEO book website, which provides excellent training on search engine optimisation. His tagline is learn, rank dominate. It’s every webmasters dream.
Aaron points out some of the link types that got his website ranked highly in google. Links from authority sites is a good strategy. However, you don’t want to pay for them, but get them through providing good content. An excellent example is ezinearticles. Write articles and submit them to this authority site article directory. He also gets links by using anchor text. For example, a link to his site uses the words ‘SEO Aaron’. When you are listed in directories, use the correct categories.
A link from Seth Godin’s blog, which is hugely popular, gave Aaron both branding and credibility. Brian Clark from copyblogger rewrote his sales letter and also recommended his site. Copyblogger is very popular with a recommendation providing yet more credibility. A link in ‘the blogger guide to SEO’ provides a little kudos and ranking. A link on lifehacker gets traffic and more links to his website. It certainly helps when you get into the top blogs.
Bookmarking is another great way to provide links to your website, but don’t do it the way most webmasters attempt it by bookmarking your own website. Ask your friends, fans and readers to bookmark your site on digg, delicious and stumbleupon. And don’t forget to create pages with titles, topics, headlines and categories that are based on your main keyword phrase.
