Have you heard of podcamps? No? I hadn’t either. But now I know what they are I think they’re a great idea. A podcamp is usually free and is based on the barcamp style or unconference. The barcamp style is an ad-hoc gathering of people sharing and learning in an open environment with discussions, demos and interaction with participants. The first podcamp was held in Boston in 2006 and it was so successful there are now lots of them held in cities mostly in North America. And the latest podcamp was March 6th in Nashville, Tennessee.
The organisers bill it as the new media community unconference and it isn’t just about podcasting. It’s also about blogging, social media, social networking, podcasting and video on the net. It’s for musicians, marketers, podcasters, bloggers, or just about anyone interesting in learning more about new media in a hands-on way. Today’s video is a news clip about a previous podcamp event in Nashville. It just gives you a short introduction.
This is Nashville’s top event for sharing expertise about new media creation, distribution and promotion. It’s a must attend event for webmasters and website owners who are, or want to start, creating and publishing podcasts. There were lots of talks to attend; creating a broadcast channel, using drupal to build your podcasting website, webcasting success stories, screencasting 101, and many more. Here is a typical list of sessions you can attend at a podcamp. So, when is the next one?
I think podcamps are for everyone, but what I want to know, is when are we going to have them in Europe?
