Podcasting is perfect for recording interviews. Interviews with gurus, experts or just people with a great story to tell. And many of the podcast directories have lots of recorded interviews on almost every topic. They’re popular because we all love to listen to knowledgable people talk to us about our favourite subject. So, as a webmaster or website owner, recording interviews with experts and distributing them as a podcast is a sure-fire winner.

But how do you record interviews? Assuming you have a topic and you’ve found an expert or professional who is prepared to be interviewed, what is the best way to record it? In today’s video, nicole on the net shows us a web-based service called audio acrobat. Audio acrobat is perfect for technophobes. It’s very easy to use. You can record your interview by telephone or computer microphone if the you meet up with your interviewee. It can record conference calls as well. You can try it for free, but it’s not free to use. It will cost you $20 a month.

Perhaps a little more involved, but free, is recording your interview using skype. Many people have skype and if they don’t, it’s very easy to set up and free to use if you both use it. Your expert could be anywhere on the planet. And if you want to make sure you get the best recording, powergramo is a skype recorder software program to help you get the best recording quality and convert the finished recording to MP3 format. MP3 is the best format to distribute your podcast. Powergramo is inexpensive and will cost you $15 for a single user licence.

If your recording is not perfect and needs a little editing, audacity is open source software, so it’s free, and a fantastic audio editor. It’s easy to download, install and use. And it’s packed with most of the features you will need to produce a polished audio recording for your podcasts.

With a few tools and a little practice recording an interview is easy.
