Why would you want to make and add a podcast to the itunes directory? I assume you are already sold on the value of creating podcasts. They are a fantastic way to provide help, advice or just entertainment to your website visitors and they reach a whole new group of people who love to listen. But why the itunes directory?
Here are a few statistics. There are around 50 million itunes store customers, who have bought 4 billion songs from a catalog of more than 6 million songs. Oh, and the podcast directory contains over 100,000 podcasts. The media have reported that itunes is the second largest music store, just behind walmart, in sales volume. If you want lots of people to see, and perhaps listen to your podcast, the itunes directory is the place to be.
I’ve already talked about how to create a podcast in an earlier article, and I would recommend audacity and an inexpensive USB microphone. Audacity is open source, so it’s free, and is so easy to use. Itunes is actually apple’s all-in-one jukebox software. You can download it and install it on your PC. Version 9 is now available and it’s free. It plays all of your media on your Mac or PC or downloads them to your ipod or iphone.
To add your podcast to the itunes directory is easy, but you will need an itunes account. Today’s video is from social media lessons and shows you how to submit a podcast to itunes. They talk about submitting your RSS feed. This is easy if you have a blog. But if you have a website, you may be wondering how to get a feed. Lisa, from 2createawebsite has written an article on creating RSS feeds for your website.
Just make sure you add your podcast to itunes.
