Have you cast your vote yet? No, well there’s still time as the voting doesn’t close until November 30th. Blubrry have sponsored this year’s podcast awards organised by podcast connect. Blubrry is a social networking site for podcasters and provides wordpress plugins for podcast publishers. Today’s video is rather long at 15 minutes but it tells you everything you want to know about the competition.

The best choices in each category are based only on listener votes, so it’s all about the most popular shows. If you are a regular listener to podcasts, you should vote. But what if you don’t? Why should you be interested? I’ve talked about podcasting before in, 6 good reasons why you should be podcasting. As a webmaster or website owner you can reach a whole new audience. And by watching who wins in each category, you get to study the best podcasts and see what works.

There are 22 categories, so there’s something for everyone. The people’s choice category will show you podcasts people really want to listen. The best produced category should give some insight into how to produce a professional podcast. I also reckon the business category is one to watch. The geeknews video talks a little about how the nominations were chosen, which also gives a little insight into some of the mistakes webmasters are making when they publish podcasts.

The live podcast award ceremony is in mid-December - can’t wait to see who wins.
