Once again the google team have created a valuable resource, this time at youtube. The total video views have exceeded one million already. The resource is the google webmaster central channel, and there are 154 videos with 11 hours of webmaster-focussed media. If you own a website, you should be watching. They are free and there are some great videos. It’s billed as the one stop webmaster shop to help with your crawling and indexing questions.

Talking of google tools, you probably have, or know you should have analytics software recording all the vital statistics about your website. I certainly know how often I have been drilled on the importance analysing your visitor traffic. And one of the best around is google analytics. But did you know there is now a range of new features to make it more powerful. Features like measuring user engagement on your website, mobile reporting, advanced analysis and customised alerts, to name a few. And it was already good!

It wasn’t that long ago there was a buzz around the idea of cloud computing. And if you missed it, cloud computing is about supplying all the server, services and application programs that your company needs from the Internet, instead of from your own data centre. And google are at the forefront of this new wave with their enterprise solutions. Despite the concerns about security and dependence on a single point of failure, each day thousands of companies are switching to google apps. There are now over 2 million businesses and 20 million users in 40 countries. The momentum is building.

Google really does have something for every webmaster.
