Not too long ago, the techies at google caught on to the growing trend of automated software tools, which would create large websites full of links. The trouble with sites like these are there is little or no content. And what do the search engines and surfers want? You guessed it – good content.
As google is the acknowledged search engine giant, where an organic, free listing of your website on the first search page, is the goal of every webmaster, what they do has a major impact on everyone. If you want to know something, to ‘google it’ is now a part of everyday computer-speak. And if you use the kind of tools that create sites with no effort, it will only get you good search rankings until the google techies catch on to what you’re doing and ban your site.
So, what is the answer? Create good, useful, unique content, continuously. Visitors will love it and so will google. The best way is to write the content yourself, but that isn’t always possible. If you are a poor writer, you still have options. There are many freelance writer who are more than willing to be your ghostwriter. The cost is reasonable and you can find them on elance or guru.
What if you need a salesletter? Then you need a good copywriter. This will cost you a lot more money, but it’s worth getting your salesletter professionally written. Good copywriters are in strong demand because they can generate a lot of income, particularly salesletters for website products. but if you can’t afford it and want to write the letter yourself, the copy doctor is a good place to start.
But is it worth all the effort of writing your own content? Yes, it definately is. You may not notice the difference at first, but if you persue a content writing strategy, over time you will add tremendous value for your visitors and great material for the search engines to index.
And there’s a double whammy here too. By writing lots of focussed, on-topic content, it will feature most of the ‘keywords’ (phrases that people type in to their favourite search engine) your visitors are searching for, which will, in-turn, move you up the search page rankings and so get you more visitors for your website.
So, get writing those articles, stories, case studies, reviews, recommendations, reports, ebooks, white papers or whatever you want to write about, and don’t stop.
