Getting low cost, quality content

by Terry Dunn on August 24, 2009

A sobering article from Bob Bly, copywriting guru, on the 12 undeniable truths of freelance writing has a few lessons, not just for freelance writers, but for webmasters and content writers too. As a very successful freelance copywriter with many years experience, Bob Bly is an expert on this topic.

Truth number 1; there’s a lot of competition that puts downward pressure on the prices a freelancer can charge. This is good news if you want to employ a freelancer to write your copy for you. And exploiting this competition is easy. Elance and guru are like auctions for professional services. You post your proposal or scope of work, and freelancers bid to win your job. You can pick the cheapest or, maybe, what you feel is the best qualified professional. You have the choice.

Elance also provides plenty of help if you’ve never used them before with a standardised process to protect both parties. It ensures your payment is safely transferred, so nobody gets scammed.  A search through elance freelancers for website copy yeilded 4,959 providers on the day I did the search. If anything, it’s too much choice. With each freelancer listed you can glean their skillset, location, $ rate, plus reviews and feedback of their service by customers.

Truth number 2; there are lots of amateur writers, who just want to get published and will often write for free. More good news for webmasters looking for copy and content. Truth number 5; most writers gravitate towards topics they can write off the top of their heads or from quick online research. So, if your website is on a popular topic, it’s more good news for you as you will pay less.

And there are plenty of article writing services around the Internet too. The results are good and they don’t charge much money for each article, especially if you buy in bulk. Need an article is an article writing service you join as a membership site. It’s only $10 a month, and for that you can get articles written for $6 for a 550 word article. This is true low-cost article writing and the quality is good too.

But the cheapest way to get copy or articles written is to write them yourself. Tiffany Dow is an expert writer and has ‘ghostwritten’ ebooks and content for many webmasters and Internet marketers, so It’s worth following her advice. I can recommend her ebook on building an ebook empire. Your purpose may not be to write ebooks, but you will still learn how to write content visitors are eager to read.

You don’t have a pay and ‘arm and leg’ to get content written for your website; there are plenty of low cost but good quality options. You just have to know where to look.

Today’s featured video shows you how to post a project on Elance.
